Model basic salary, a monthly threshold and flat commission on eligible fees above that threshold. Compare quieter, expected and stronger months, then add your own employer cost assumptions.
How this calculator works
Monthly commission = max(0, eligible monthly fee income minus monthly threshold) × commission rate. Annual variable pay assumes the same month repeats twelve times. Annual cash package adds basic salary and cash allowances. The three scenarios use 75%, 100% and 125% of your entered income; they are illustrative, not forecasts.
Employer cost estimate
The estimate adds the cash package, your contribution rate on cash pay above your chosen contribution threshold, your pension percentage on cash pay above your chosen pension threshold, and other annual costs. It does not calculate payroll, take-home pay, employer reliefs, pension earnings caps or tax. Leave out costs already included elsewhere to avoid double counting.
Use real evidence when advertising OTE
Compare the scenario with achieved fees, typical completion timing and colleagues doing comparable work. This tool assumes a single flat rate above a monthly threshold, with no tiering, clawbacks, team split or guarantee. If your scheme differs, model it separately before publishing earnings claims.
